As The Attic meets only three days per week, homework helps ensure that the children continue their progress academically. For math, the amount of homework increases as the children move along in their math groups, starting with homework one day per week, moving to homework each day. For reading and writing, expectations vary as the children are working towards different "events", but it is always an expectation that the children be doing reading at home each off-day, for all levels. Writing homework varies with the ability of the child; often, a child will be expected to finish work at home if class time wasn't sufficient, or may be assigned new work. Science homework is generally assigned for students aged 10 and up, as is social studies.
Summer work is given in math for the older math groups (about age 9 and up). This ensures that the child does not require a lot of review time in math. It is expected that each child continue to read and write throughout the summer. Children typically come up with their own summer goals in these areas.
