Admissions Overview

Application       ~
Always print a copy of your completed form for your records.

In selecting qualified Attic applicants, we look for:
  • The match of your family with The Attic
  • Our ability to meet your expectations and your child's needs.
  • The ability of your child/family to help us build and meet the needs of our existing community.

We observe rolling admissions and consider applications as they are received.  An application is complete when two references and the application fee are received, and the parents/guardians have toured the Attic.

Applying for 2018-19

We strongly encourage all new applications be received and complete no later than
January 24, 2018 for consideration in our first pool for the 2018-19 academic year.

Admissions Procedure

  1. Learn about the Attic
    1. We highly recommend that you read through the Explore the Attic, Admissions, Community, and Academics sections of this website, as well as peruse our Recommended Reading List, especially the favorites section, before observing or applying.

  2. Tour the Attic
    1. Schedule an observation date here. Touring is a required step in the admissions process. You can submit an application to the Attic prior to touring, but applications will not be considered complete until parents/guardians tour the Attic.
    2. If our first pool application date (January 24th) has passed, you are welcome to submit your application as soon as possible rather than waiting until after your tour, though touring is still needed to complete the application. Applications submitted and completed after January 24 will be considered on a rolling basis after our first pool applicants.

  3. Submit an Enrollment Application
    1. Email completed application (at top of page) to admissions@the-attic.org.
    2. Mail in your $50 enrollment fee (and application if you prefer not to email it) to:
The Attic, Attn: Admissions, PO Box 1668, Woodinville, WA, 98072.
    3. When we receive your application, you will receive an email confirming receipt. If you do not receive a confirmation, please notify us.
    4. Your application is not complete until we have received two complete Reference Forms, the application fee, and parents have participated in a tour. All reference communication is confidential.

  4. Submit References
    1. Ask your two references to complete a Reference Form (found at top of page).
    2. Submit completed Reference Form to admissions@the-attic.org or mail to The Attic, Attention: Admissions, PO Box 1668, Woodinville, WA 98072.

The Attic Learning Community Non-Discrimination Policy

It is the policy of The Attic that all employees, volunteers and students have a right to work and study in an environment that asserts the personal worth and dignity of each individual.

In order to achieve this objective, The Attic will not tolerate any form of discrimination and/or harassment in its employment or education dealings.   Discrimination against, or harassment of, any employee, group of employees, student or group of students, on the basis of race, ancestry, place or origin, color, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, mental or physical disability defeats this objective and will not be tolerated by The Attic.

This policy shall apply where there exists a negative work or study environment or potential adverse impact on an individual's work or study performance, or on their work or study environment.

Complaints of discrimination and/or sexual harassment should be reported directly to the Executive Director and will be investigated promptly and thoroughly.

The Attic is committed to preventing behavior which results in discrimination and/or harassment, as defined in this policy.
